Story/Photos by: Joe Shefer C63
Submitted: 2/4/2010

QV dispatch notified the Baltic Dept of a possible ice rescue
when they recieved a report for a childs snow tube on an ice
jamb floating down the fridgid Shetucket River towards Norwich. Baltic Command requested the Norwich Area search
and rescue dive team, which brought dive # 23 from Taftville
and squad36 from Yantic who also respond to such incidents
with their members of the unit.
A rescue sled was deployed across the ice and tree laden river to the device and to the relief of all, nothing else was found.
All units thankfully cleared in about an hour.
