Visit to Orlando, Florida's Station 1

While on vacation to Florida, I stopped by and visited Orlando's Station 1. This environmentally friendly (green) station opened a few months ago and houses Engine 1, Engine 101, division 1, Tower 1, Dive 1, EMS Rescue 1, HazMat and the bomb unit.

Orlando does over 55,000 runs, has over 500 members, 17 engines, 7 tower ladders, 5 district chiefs, 1 heavy rescue, 8 EMS rescues. Most of the apparatus are Sutphens.

Orlando FD takes fitness seriously. Each firehouse has its own gym and the members are tested yearly. If they don't pass, they are taken out of service until they do.
